New York’s best sandwich shop, according to Only in Your State, is in the Big Apple: Edith’s Sandwich Counter.

The shop started as a pop-up eatery on Long Island in 2020. It has grown to two brick and mortar locations – one in Brooklyn and the other in New York City’s West Village. The Brooklyn shop opened in 2021 and the West Village spot opened in 2024.

“While this list isn’t honoring breakfast sandwiches specifically, the BEC&L (Bacon, Egg, Latke & Cheese) Sandwich was named ‘One Of The Sandwiches That Defines New York City’ by The New York Times,” according to the article. Deli classics including a Reuben, pastrami and tuna melt are also popular.
