Pleasant Plains’ Aspen Kitowski is The State Journal-Register’s athlete of the week.

Aspen Kitowski, Pleasant Plains, softball

The sophomore hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the top of the fifth inning and Plains defeated host Williamsville 7-5 on Thursday. She also had a two-run homer in the first and finished 2-for-2 with four RBIs.

Chloe Law, Litchfield, girls soccer

The junior netted four goals and reached 100 career goals in a 9-0 win over Hillsboro on Tuesday. The Purple Panthers also defeated North Mac 9-0 on Thursday to clinch at least a share of the South Central Conference title.

Bailey Leach, Pleasant Plains, girls soccer

The junior tallied three goals and two assists en route to 100 career goals and an 8-0 win over Athens on Wednesday before defeating Williamsville 1-0 on Thursday for the Pleasant Plains Invite championship and at least a share of the Sangamo Conference title.

Cade McCready, North Mac, baseball

The senior struck out seven to help the Panthers beat West Central 2-1 in a nonconference game on Wednesday. McCready, who also had a single and an RBI, allowed one run on three hits and two walks.  

Bella Palmer, Beardstown, softball

The senior belted a walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the 11th inning and Beardstown survived 6-5 against Camp Point Central on Monday. Palmer also hit an RBI sacrifice fly with one out in the seventh that tied the game 4-4.

Brody Scheffler, Springfield High, baseball

The junior totaled 16 strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings in a 2-0 Central State Eight Conference win over Southeast on Tuesday. He gave up just two hits and four walks, while also delivering a double and walk at the plate.

Brooklyn Termine, Williamsville, girls soccer

The junior tallied three goals and an assist while reaching 100 career goals in a 10-0 win over Beardstown on Monday.
