Want a free Aldi 'Blind Box'? Here is how to win

SPRINGFIELD, IL – And just like that, the first round of Aldi Blind Boxes dropped and were gone in the blink of an eye – and faster than some savvy shoppers could check out their cart online.

Aldi, an international grocery chain with the some of the lowest prices for food in the United States, ran the first promotional Blind Box drop on June 22, with some waiting in line queue over half an hour to try and score a delivery box.

The drops last until June 25, giving customers a chance to snatch a deal for cheap food online.

Missed the first box and want a try for one of the value bundles? Here’s how Springfield residents can try for a box.

What boxes are still to drop?

Aldi still has three boxes to drop after the June 22 Snack Blind Box.

The three other boxes are as follows:

The next Blind Box to drop is the fiber box, which will go live for purchase on the Aldi website aldiblindbox.com at 11 a.m. CST.

Updates on what box will be sold next can be found on the @AldiUSA Instagram account.

When can I pick up a box?

On the aldiblindbox.com wait for 11 a.m. to strike every day until June 25, then hit the purchase button and follow the prompts online to checkout.

How much are the boxes?

Free.

Grocery prices across the nation are rising about 3.2–3.4% year‑over‑year, with notable increases in beef, vegetables and beverages. According to the USDA, food inflation from April 2026 to 2025 was 3.2% higher, meaning just more squeeze on the average consumer wallet.

The average monthly grocery trip costs single adults between $200 to $615 depending on the Consumer Spending Benchmark, according to USDA approved food plans for 2026. Help from a free box with groceries can alleviate some stress of putting food on the table – if the customer is lucky enough to score one of the limited 100+ boxes.

I won a box, do I need to pick it up in the store?

No, the whole process is entirely online from order to delivery.

Aldi has several locations across Springfield.

What is the blind box?

The idea behind the blind box is a smart move by the global grocer tapping into the online trend of “blind boxes” or a “gacha” system where customers can buy at a reduced price a grab bag of mysterious goods.

An Aldi Blind Box is a grocery bundle made up of fan favorite items, standout staples and fresh picks from across every aisle,” according to a statement from the company.

Springfield already has a gacha-style food box system with TooGood2Go partnering with Circle K making blind food boxes worth over $12 for just a quarter the price.

The June 22 drop box was the snack box. Inside the box USA Today got, 15 items were included in the crate including Dubai-style pistachio spread, hummus, Italian dried cured meat and other salty dips and chips.

“Our shoppers come to Aldi for value, but they also come for discovery,” director of communications for Aldi Bridget Kozlowski said in a news release. “From viral Aldi Finds to tried-and-true products shoppers love to tell their friends about, people love the thrill of discovering something new here.”
