Here are 9 Peoria area fish fries to check out during Lent in 2026

For most Christians, Lent began Feb. 18 and culminates with Easter, which this year is April 5. Also beginning are the usual dietary restrictions on Lenten Fridays, when the devout eschew meat and poultry.

The Journal Star is compiling a non-comprehensive list of places that offer fish on Lenten Fridays. The list leans toward temporary, Lent-only events, but businesses that will have fish specials are welcome. Most also offer dine-in and carryout options.

Where to get fish on Fridays during Lent

Holy Family Catholic Church, 3720 N. Sterling Ave., Peoria: 4-7 p.m. Feb. 20, Feb. 27, March 6, March 13, March 20 and March 27. Dine-in and carryout options are available. Visit https://holy-family-peoria.square.site for menu options and pricing. Kids meals are available.

Kickapoo Sportsman’s Club, 11125 U.S. Route 150, Brimfield: 4:30-7 p.m. Feb. 20, March 6 and March 20. Fish dinners for adults and children. Hot dog meals will also be available.

Morton Knights of Columbus, 616 W. David St., Morton: 5:30-7:30 p.m. Feb. 20, Feb. 27, March 6, March 13, March 20 and March 27. Buffet with fried or baked pollack (white fish). Cost is $16 for adults, $10 for children ages 7-12 and free for children ages 6 and under. Child hot dog meals will be available for $3.

St. Joseph Catholic Church, 303 S. 7th St., Pekin: 4-7 p.m. Feb. 20, March 6 and March 27. $15 walleye dinners. Carry-outs available.

St. Jude Knights of Columbus, 10811 N. Knoxville Ave., Peoria: 5-7 p.m. Feb. 20, March 6, March 13, March 20 and March 27. Cost is $15 for fried catfish, baked cod and fried shrimp meals and $12 for fish sandwich meals. Child fish sandwich or cheese pizza meals will be available for $5. St. Monica Catholic Church, Campanile Drive, East Peoria: 5-7 p.m. Feb. 27, March 13 and March 27. Cost is $12 for adults for all-you-can-eat fish with salad, baked potato and dinner roll and $6 for kids fish or hot dog plates with chips and applesauce.

St. Philomena Catholic Church, 1000 W. Albany Ave., Peoria: 5-7 p.m. Feb. 20, March 6 and March 27. Cost is $15 for adults for catfish, walleye or shrimp meals and $6 for children for cheese pizza, walleye or macaroni and cheese meals. St. Phil’s 8th Grade Bake Sale will also be available.

St. Sharbel Catholic Church, 2920 W. Scenic Drive, Peoria: 5 to 8 p.m. March 6 and March 20. Cost is $15 for adults for fried catfish, baked tilapia or fried shrimp meals and $6 for children for cheese pizza meals. Additional items and drinks will be available for purchase. Carry-outs available.

St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 904 E. Lake Ave., Peoria Heights: 5 to 7 p.m. March 6. All-you-can-eat fish fry. $15 for adults and $10 fish and $5 grilled cheese dinners for children ages 6-12. Menu includes homemade french fries, bread, cole slaw and salad bar.
