“With deep roots in our mission and a passion for regional collaboration, Erin is dedicated to forging strong partnerships and expanding the Y’s impact throughout the community,” the organization said in the release. “She brings a strong track record of operational excellence, community-centered innovation, and collaborative leadership.”

Hess brings nearly two decades of experience at the South Wood County YMCA to her new leadership role. She began her work at the organization in the aquatics department, which led to a series of leadership roles within the organization, according to a news release.

“I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity to serve an organization that has meant so much to this community for generations,’ Hess said in an email to a Daily Tribune reporter. “From its roots at Camp Alexander to the opening of our state-of-the-art facility in Port Edwards in 1957, the South Wood County YMCA has been a cornerstone of connection, support, and growth.”

As associate center executive, Hess oversaw construction and launch of a new facility in Adams while managing healthy living and membership strategy at the association level, according to the release. As branch executive, Hess provided oversight of operations and led efforts to expand outreach and services in both Wood and Adams counties.

Hess directed the Y’s Healthy Living initiatives, which include nationally recognized programs like LIVESTRONG at the YMCA and YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program, which impacts wellness in underserved communities. She is also an active participant in the YPN Peer Community Network and serves as a co-chair of the Branch Director group, according to the release.

“The YMCA is more than our buildings; it’s a movement rooted in service, partnership and inclusion,” Hess said. “Together, we will keep building a stronger, healthier South Wood County and Adams County for generations to come.”
