As spring weather brings thunderstorms, allergies and even frost, summer is about two or so months away. Many of you may be waiting to take your summer wardrobe out of storage and enjoy a hot summer’s day.
What is summer going to look like in Ohio? What will the weather be like? Here’s what to know.
What does the Old Farmers’ Almanac predict for spring weather in Ohio?
Ohio will have a hot, rainy, and dry summer, according to Old Farmer’s Almanac.
Most of northern and northwest Ohio will have a hot and rainy summer, while the southern and southeastern portions will experience a hot and dry summer.
Most of Ohio Valley will have hotter temperatures throughout the summer and drier skies due to the possible lack of rainfall. As with any spring in Ohio, the cooler temps will fluctuate alongside warm spells.
Good news for Ohio and the rest of the Great Lakes region — the Almanac predicts a pleasant Memorial Day weekend for the unofficial start of summer.
Are Farmers’ Almanac weather predictions accurate?
The same forecast formula used to predict the weather, based on a mathematical and astronomical formula, has remained the same since the Farmers’ Almanac’s inception in 1818. The almanac claims readers have concluded it is accurate 85% of the time.
Taking a look at the almanac’s winter weather predictions for Ohio, its extended winter weather forecast predicted a “cold and stormy” winter, including below-average temperatures and lots of snowstorms, sleet, ice, rain for much of the Great Lakes, Ohio Valley, and Midwest areas. And, for the most part, Ohio did experience a few of those.

Summer will begin on Sunday, June 21, 2026, when we reach the summer solstice, according to Old Farmer’s Almanac.
