Fans have been waiting weeks for Caitlin Clark to look like herself coming off a nagging back injury. On Friday night, the former Iowa superstar was at her very best.
Clark poured in a WNBA career-high 45 points in the Indiana Fever’s wild 110-107 win over the Seattle Storm. She shot 11 of 18 from the field, including a 6 of 10 performance from behind the arc. She also went 17 for 19 from the free-throw line, with a few of those makes coming late in clutch time. Clark also dished out ten assists in the winning effort.
Those 45 points are the most by a player in a single game in Fever franchise history. She’s also the first player in WNBA history with 40+ points and 10+ assists in a game. Clark tied A’Ja Wilson for the second-most points in a WNBA game this season, behind Marina Mabrey’s 53-point game last month.
Clark is no stranger to seeing her name atop the record books. This performance adds a few more accolades to her already-historic career. More importantly, it can serve as the confidence booster she and the Fever need going forward. For the first time in a few weeks, Clark looked healthy and ready to lead her team to wins consistently.
The Fever will return to the court on Saturday night for a marquee matchup against the New York Liberty. Tip-off will be at 7 p.m. CST on CBS.
