The Detroit Pistons and the Miami Heat both had 1-3 records coming into Friday’s game in the NBA Summer League, but it was the Pistons coming up short again in a 101-87 loss to the Heat.
The Pistons grabbed an early lead in the first quarter and later extended it to a 15-point lead in the third quarter. It was a close game with 10 lead changes and five ties with the Pistons shooting 41% from the field (27-for-66).
Ebuka Okorie had his best shooting performance with 27 points, the most points he’s had in the summer league.
Brice Williams scored nine points in the first quarter, including a basket flagged for goaltending and a dunk in the first three minutes. He was ejected from the game with 2:52 left in the match and finished with 15 points.
Miami rebounded on dunks of their own from Kendall Brown, Ezra Ausar, and Tre White before Okorie sparked the offense with a 12-0 run.
Tre Donaldson finished with a double-double with 20 points and 10 assists, and White added 21 points. Miami shot 53% from the field (35-for-66).
