The weather has been perfect all week at the site of the 2026 Open Championship. Maybe a little too perfect.
The Open is known for blistering winds and occasional sheets of rain that can make conditions miserable for players. Yet with temperatures in the 70s all week and nary a storm cloud in sight, there have been three record-tying rounds over the past two days.
Yet the scores overall aren’t too far afield. Leader Sam Burns sits at 10 under coming into the final round with just nine others at 5 under or better. Bryson DeChambeau, Si Woo Kim and Southport native Tommy Fleetwood should have prime conditions once again to make their charge for the claret jug. The winds off the Irish Sea shouldn’t pose too many issues, with the highest gusts forecast to be about 20 mph, no more than what the golfers have seen since Thursday.
