MIAMI GARDENS — England star Harry Kane did not play in the World Cup third-place match against France on Saturday, July 18 at Hard Rock Stadium.
Kane was on the bench throughout South Florida’s final match of the World Cup. He watched Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice and Ezri Konsa score goals to give England a 4-0 halftime lead, only for France to claw its way back into the match with four second-half goals.
Saka converted a penalty in the 87th minute to secure a hat trick and give England a 5-3 lead. After Ousmane Dembele gave France renewed hope with a goal in stoppage time, star midfielder Jude Bellingham finished off the French with a final goal.
England defeated France 6-4 to secure a third-place finish in the 2026 World Cup. It was England’s best World Cup finish since the English won the World Cup in 1966.

Why isn’t Harry Kane playing in World Cup match?
England’s all-time leading goal scorer was omitted from the starting lineup for Saturday’s third-place match against France.
Kane also was not one of the five substitutions selected by head coach Thomas Tuchel.
