Residents looking for a short getaway or a ride to nearby beaches or airports can hop on the Tally Express Shuttle, a new service that launches May 1.
Owner Corey Mitchell said his nine-seater van will operate during the weekdays for shorter trips to cities like Quincy and Thomasville, Georgia, and longer drives to cities like Jacksonville, Orlando and Atlanta on the weekends. Booking requires a minimum of 24-hour notice.
The cost, for example, would be $45 for a one-way trip to Jacksonville and $75 roundtrip. A trip to Atlanta would be $65 one way and $90 roundtrip.
Mitchell, who moved to Tallahassee in June 2025, said he immediately noticed a lack of local transportation options and there was “an opportunity for travel outside of the city of Tallahassee.”
“As great as the city of Tallahassee is, we have even more great things surrounding us,” said Mitchell, adding his service may be a viable option for those looking to fly out of nearby airports.
Mitchell said high air fares at Tallahassee’s airport – a common gripe among locals – was the push to launch this service so residents can get to nearby airports, along with beaches within driving distance.
“We also want to provide services to Destin, St. George Island and Panama City Beach. These are desirable destinations that are within a drivable proximity to us,” said Mitchell, adding he plans to add more vans in July and December.
“We’re excited to provide this service to the community and cut some costs. Everyone’s trying to cut corners where they can, and this is one way they can start enjoying the weekends.”
