Glazer Hall brings first-run films to Palm Beach this summer

First-run films are returning to Palm Beach for the first time in nearly five decades.

This summer, Glazer Hall will launch its inaugural Summer Cinema Series, a weekly lineup featuring new releases, summer blockbusters, anniversary screenings of classic films and family-friendly favorites.

The series will open at 7 p.m. May 22 with a screening of “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” with tickets priced at $20. The film, starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, also will be shown at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. May 23-24. For the sequel, the two actors, along with Stanley Tucci, are reprising their roles from the original 2006 “The Devil Wears Prada.”

The movie will also be presented May 29-May 31.

At the screenings, Glazer Hall will offer theater-style concessions, a full bar and access to its waterfront terrace for preshow gatherings.

Other first-run titles screened this summer will be “Disclosure Day,” “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” “Minions & Monsters” and “The Odyssey,” along with documentaries and special-anniversary screenings.

“Bringing feature films back to Palm Beach was a founding mission for us,” Jill Glazer, board president and co-founder of Glazer Hall, said in a statement. “For generations, going to the movies was part of the rhythm of life on this island, and we wanted to give that experience back to our community in a setting and at a level of technical excellence that honors what cinema can be.”

Palm Beach’s moviegoing history dates to 1927, when the Paramount Theatre opened on the near North End and served as the island’s primary first-run venue until it closed in 1980.

Doors will open 30 minutes before showings, with most screenings at 4 p.m. or 7 p.m., the statement said. Reserved seating is available, and guests can also pair screenings with dining at nearby restaurants in The Royal Poinciana Plaza.

In addition to the Summer Cinema Series, Glazer Hall also will continue its Andrew Henley Sullivan Family Film Series, supported by the Collis Foundation, with sensory-friendly morning screenings and traditional early afternoon showings of “Mary Poppins” on June 14 and “Zootopia” on Aug. 30.

Tickets and the full summer schedule are available at GlazerHall.org and across the venue’s social media channels.
