Trenton softball can reach rarified air on Wednesday.
The Tigers are seeking their fifth state championship in seven years today as they face Liberty County in the Rural Class title game. The Bulldogs are the most recent team to win a state championship besides Trenton – in 2023.
Last season, in the FHSAA Final Four, the Tigers beat up Liberty County to the tune of a 9-2 victory. This season, Liberty County enters the title bout with a 21-5 record and coming off a 10-8 win over defending state runner up Northview.
The Bulldogs have one of the best offenses in the Rural Class. Cha’miya Williams, Lauren Davis and Taylor Kincaid all rank in the top 10 in Florida in home runs and RBIs.
However, the ‘Dogs haven’t seen a pitcher like Trenton’s Addison Allaire. The Florida softball commit fired a complete game, one-hit shutout with 16 strikeouts to defeat Madison County in the state semifinals Tuesday.
The Tigers, though, only registered one run.
A win Wednesday would give Trenton five state titles – moving it into a tie for fifth all-time.
