Aldi is opening a new Panhandle store with a ribbon-cutting May 21

MARIANNA — Aldi has announced it has opened a new story in the Florida Panhandle.

The newly converted store is at 4478 Market St. in Marianna.

The store will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, May 21, at 8:30 a.m. The store will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

“To celebrate, the first 200 customers will receive a gift bag filled with a sampling of Aldi products and a gift card as part of the Aldi Golden Ticket giveaway program,” the release says.

This latest opening brings the company one step closer to its goal of having 3,200 stores by the end of 2028.

In the new store, shoppers can expect quarter carts, a small store format, self bagging, and Aldi-exclusive products.

”At our new Marianna Aldi store, shoppers will notice a smaller, easy-to-shop store layout filled with a carefully selected range of products to provide them with exactly what they need,” Heather Moore, regional vice president for Aldi said in the release. “As more people look for better ways to stretch their dollar further, we’re excited to bring quality groceries at the lowest possible prices to Marianna.”

Marianna not the only new store opening Thursday

Aldi also is opening a new store in St. Augustine the same day, at 181 Blackford Way. That ribbon-cutting is at 8:45 a.m.

Florida has become ground zero for a grocery chain arms race, as companies rush to expand into a state that’s added three million people in ten years. Aldi opened 60 stores here last year and about 20 more so far in 2026. Publix opened or reopened dozens of stores in 2025 and 2026, many of them in Florida, with a new shopper-friendly design. Whole Foods has four more stores in development.
