Godby WR Jamarin Simmons commits to Clemson over FSU football, Gators

Godby High School standout Jamarin Simmons, one of the nation’s top wide receiver prospects, announced his verbal commitment to Clemson on Wednesday, choosing the Tigers over a host of major programs, including hometown Florida State.

Simmons, a four-star recruit, picked Clemson over offers from Florida, Auburn, Tennessee and several others, according to Rivals. The 6-foot playmaker has been on coach Dabo Swinney’s radar since receiving an offer in June 2025.

Ranked as the nation’s No. 10 wide receiver by 247Sports, Simmons also checks in at No. 9 on USA TODAY’s Florida Top 100 list for the 2027 recruiting class.

He capped a strong junior season with 59 receptions for 932 yards and 14 touchdowns, showcasing his big-play ability. Simmons also made an impact on defense as a starting cornerback, recording three interceptions.

Simmons now heads into his senior season at Godby as one of Florida’s most highly touted prospects, with his commitment giving Clemson an early cornerstone for its 2027 class.
