An electric bicycle rider is dead after a collision in Camarillo early July 18 and a Simi Valley pedestrian has been hospitalized stemming from a late July 17 crash with a vehicle, according to authorities.
At 2:19 a.m. on July 18, Ventura County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a collision involving an e-bike rider around Fieldgate Road and Las Posas Road in Camarillo, Capt. Chris Zapata of the sheriff’s office said. The sheriff’s office provides police services for the city of Camarillo.
The emergency personnel declared the e-bike rider, a man in his late 30s, dead at the scene, the captain said.
Deputies found that the rider had collided into a tree and appeared to not have a helmet on, Zapata said.
A few hours earlier at 10:58 p.m. on July 17, Simi Valley Police Department officers responded to calls of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle at Erringer Road and Elizondo Street in Simi Valley, Sgt. Brian Murray of the department said. The location is next to by Rancho Simi Community Park.
A 32-year-old Simi Valley man wearing dark clothes is suspected of crossing Erringer Street, where there was no crosswalk, and was hit by a male Simi Valley driver, Murray said.
The pedestrian has significant injuries from the crash and was taken to a local hospital, the sergeant said.
The driver cooperated with the investigation that shut down Erringer Road between Royal Avenue and Eizondo Street in both directions from around 11:30 p.m. to a little past 2 a.m. this morning, officials said.
No other details were available from officials on the incidents.
