Myles Garrett says he'll break his sack record before Micah Parsons

New Los Angeles Rams edge rusher Myles Garrett set the NFL’s single-season sack record with 23 in 2025, surpassing the 22.5-sack mark shared by Michael Strahan (2001) and T.J. Watt (2021). During a live appearance on Bleacher Report’s “The Edge with Micah Parsons,” Green Bay Packers edge rusher Micah Parsons made clear he intends to come for it. However, he said it’ll take some time.

Parsons acknowledged Garrett’s record stands for now but predicted it won’t last, saying it’ll take him roughly two years to break 23 sacks compared to the 25 years it took the previous record to be topped. Parsons admitted that since he’ll miss some time to start the 2026 season while he recovers from his 2025 ACL injury, Garrett will “get a little cushion off that.” He also pointed out he’ll get something of a head start given the time he’s expected to miss to open the 2026 season.

Garrett wasn’t interested in giving up any ground on the timeline.

“Take your time,” he joked. “I’m going to go ahead and break it again.”

Garrett will get a chance to break his own record on a new team for the first time in his career. The Rams acquired Garrett in a blockbuster trade earlier this offseason, giving the veteran a chance to also compete for a Super Bowl ring while chasing his own legacy.

However, the rest of the league’s top edge rushers will be chasing him as well, including Parsons.
