The Ventura Police Department responded to a report of a crash that night with a man lying in the road around 9:15 p.m. Despite efforts to revive him, the man died from his injuries.

Officers later determined Walker had been walking in the road when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver had stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said.

The next day in Oxnard, Salvador Sanchez Jr., 52, died while riding a bicycle near Harbor Boulevard and Fifth Street, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Sanchez, described as homeless, also died May 30 from multiple blunt-force injuries, and his manner of death was ruled an accident, the agency said.

The Oxnard Police Department responded to the area around 4 p.m. and Sanchez Jr., was found with major injuries on the side of the road. Sanchez Jr., who police originally described as 52, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Oxnard police determined he had been struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash.
