Livonia police have arrested a suspected in an attempted home invasion in May, the department said on social media Saturday.
A resident reported on May 13 that someone dressed in a white protective jumpsuit was on her deck in her back yard. A second incident was reported May 14, police said, involving a suspect wearing a similar white jumpsuit.
The May 13 incident happened at a house near Bristol Court and Newburgh Road, Fox 2 Detroit reported. The homeowner was coming home from work and saw a man “trying to undo the gate,” and noticed he had a screwdriver in his hand, she told police. When she pressed the emergency button on her cellphone, he grabbed the neckline of her shirt and pushed her backward, Fox 2 reported.
He had jumped the fence in her backyard and when she questioned him, he mumbled he was checking something, CBS News reported.
Police said on May 14, another homeowner reported a masked man wearing similar clothes in their backyard before running off when the homeowner confronted him, CBS News said.
Livonia police said on the department Facebook page that investigators worked “tirelessly over the past several weeks to identify and apprehend the suspect.”
“Their commitment, persistence, and collaborative efforst were instrumental in brining this investigation to a successful resolution,” police said.
The arrested person has not been publicly identified. Police said information would be available pending formal charges by the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.
