A 67-year-old Victorville man died after crashing his pickup truck into a car at an intersection on Friday afternoon, authorities said.
The deadly crash took place just after 5 p.m. June 5 at Amethyst Road and Northstar Avenue.
Preliminary investigation determined the man had been driving a Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck north on Amethyst Road, approaching the intersection, which is regulated by four-way stop signs, just prior to the crash, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a written statement.
“The S-10 traveled into opposing lanes, ran the stop sign at the intersection and crashed into a white Infiniti Q50 stopped at the intersection,” according to the statement.
Paramedics took the driver of the pickup truck to a hospital, where he later died. His identity was not yet released by coroner’s officials.
A man who had been driving the Infiniti was treated for minor injuries, sheriff’s officials said.
The roadway was shut down for about three hours due to the investigation.
