Two separate Stockton shootings leave three injured, 1 dead

Officer Omer Edhah, a Stockton police spokesperson, said he could confirm that one person shot was an adult. He said he was working to verify the ages of the additional victims.

Edhah said all the victims were taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

District 5 Councilmember Brando Villapudua said in a social media post following the shooting, “I am deeply saddened and concerned by the recent shooting incident that has left four people injured, including children and an infant.”

Villapudua said his thoughts were with the victims and their families as they received medical care.

“The safety and well-being of our community is my top priority, and I am committed to working closely with law enforcement and local organizations to address and prevent violence in our neighborhoods,” Villapudua said.

At 10:10 p.m. a second shooting was reported at Hunter and Sonora streets.

Police said a 36-year-old man had been shot. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

Edhah said both scenes were not active as of 9:10 a.m. Saturday.

He added that there was not any known motive or releasable suspect information for the shootings at this time.

Edhah said the shootings did not appear to be connected.

Stockton has now had 16 homicides this year, compared to 18 last year at the same time.
