A 4×1-mile relay from Corning placed ninth at the New Balance Nationals Indoor at the TRACK at New Balance in Boston.
The team of Bryce Hammond, Sebastian Boutwell, Nick Ferratella, Christopher Lawson posted a time of 17 minutes, 47.02 seconds Saturday, March 14.
Corning-Painted Post senior Cella McLaughlin advanced to the semifinals of the girls 60-meter hurdles and finished 17th among 24 runners who made it to that round with a time of 8.67 seconds.
McLaughlin’s prelim time was 8.56 seconds. A total of 125 competitors competed in prelims.
McLaughlin also competed in the girls long jump, placing 37th with a top effort of 16 feet, 10.75 inches.
Last weekend McLaughlin repeated as state public schools champion and won the Federation title in the 55 hurdles (7.89 seconds) at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association championships in Staten Island. She was state runner-up in the long jump (18 feet, 6.75 inches).
Other Corning Track Club results from the four-day New Balance meet, which began Thursday, March 12.
