“Survivor” returned last week with the season 49 premiere episode titled “Act 1 of a Horror Film.”
It proved to be a nightmare for one tribe and the first person voted out.
Now, episode 2 will provide “Cinema.”
Will the Kele tribe, which is still without its flint, get its act together and avoid tribal council again? Or will the script be the same?

Who wins Survivor 49?
Survivor 49 is just in its second week so we are a long way from finding out the winner of season 49.
The finale date hasn’t been set but it will likely be on Wednesday, Dec. 17.
Two players I’m watching who had breakout premieres are Savannah Louie and Rizo Velovic. Louie, a 31-year-old former TV reporter, and Velovic, a 25-year-old who works in tech sales, both had strong introductory confessionals as the boats were coming to the marooning. And both were featured prominently throughout the episode like a winner would be to establish for the audience that they’ll be a key player this season.
A confident Louie, who discussed the $1 million prize in her confessional, was presented as someone who will be a strategic threat and already has formed connections. She has the mindset to win the game. Velovic was arguably the star of the episode, winning supplies for his tribe in an exhilerating come-from-behind effort while sharing a lot of personal content. He gave himself the nickname “Rizgod.”
Louie and Velovic are rumored to be on season 50 as well. Will one of them be the winner?
Survivor cast
One person who won’t win Survivor 49 is Nicole Mazullo. The 26-year-old financial crime consultant from Philadelphia was the first person voted out.
Here’s the full cast of season 49:
Survivor premiere date
Survivor season 49 premiered on Wednesday, Sept. 24, with 18 new castaways competing for the $1 million prize and the title of “Sole Survivor.”
The episode was titled “Act One of a Horror Film.” The castaways were full of smiles and excitement when they arrived on the beach to meet Probst. But by the end of the two-hour premiere one person’s torch was snuffed.
Hina won the marooning challenge, which led to Uli sending Rizo and Kele sending Alex to compete in another challenge for supplies. Rizo had an incredible comeback in finding a treasure in the sand after solving a puzzle. He was stumped until he started looking at Alex’s puzzle nearby. Hey, any way possible in “Survivor.” If anything, his narration in the challenge was the most entertaining moment of the episode.
Hina and Uli were then first and second, respectively, in the immunity challenge, sending Kele to the first tribal council. Nicole, who struggled in the challenge, was determined to be the weak link on the tribe and was voted out unanimously.
