GRAND RAPIDS − Part of Lake Wazeecha will be closed for four days to accommodate the Wisconsin State Water Ski Show Tournament.
From 6 a.m. July 17 through 9 p.m. July 20, the lake will be closed east of a line from the 64th Street South boat landing north to the north shore of Lake Wazeecha. The closure includes all water area east to the Wood County U/80th Street bridge, according to a news release from the Grand Rapids Police Department.

What you need to know about the ski show tournament
The Wisconsin State Water Ski Show Championships is the largest and longest running ski show tournament in the World, according to a news release from the Aqua Skiers. The Wisconsin Rapids Aqua Skiers have been the hosts of the show since its inception.
This year’s tournament will be held July 17-20 at Red Sands Beach at Lake Wazeecha. The four-day tournament features 24 of Wisconsin’s best water ski show teams and 72 individual competitors all competing for a state title and chance to qualify for the National Water Ski Show Championships.
The individual competitions take place the first day of the competition. During the following three days, the team competitions take place. Each team is given one hour to put on their best themed performances for the thousands of spectators, according to the Aqua Skiers news release. Spectators get to watch human pyramids, barefoot skiers, skiers going over the jump, swivel skiers and stage entertainment, all done in flashy costumes.
Parking for the event is $5 per day. No food or drink will be allowed to be carried into the event, including the parking lot area.
