Aug. 13 is going to be 'the ideal summer day' in Milwaukee — and there's day baseball with George Webb burgers on the line

After the dumpster fire of summer weather the Milwaukee area has been slammed with, we’re finally going to have “kind of the ideal summer day” on Aug. 13.

That’s according to Cameron Miller, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan.

And, the red-hot Milwaukee Brewers just happen to have a very important day game — hallelujah!

Local highs for Aug. 13 will be about 80, with lows around 62 later tonight.

With an area of high pressure moving in over the Upper Mississippi Valley on Aug. 13, the Milwaukee area will be dry and have light northwesterly winds to start the day, with a lake breeze along the lakeshore midday, which will move inland, the meteorologist explained.

There will even be “puffy daytime cumulous” in the afternoon.

Canadian wildfire smoke in high concentrations aren’t expected around here on Aug. 13 either, Miller said.

Combine all of that with day baseball — not to mention, free George Webb burgers are on the line — and you truly have the flipside of a perfect storm.

The Brewers take on the Pittsburgh Pirates at 1:10 p.m. at American Family Field — just a day after the Crew won for the 11th straight time, eviscerating the Pirates, 14-0.

And afterwards, you could swing on over to the Milwaukee Night Market, which goes from 5 to 10 p.m. on West Wisconsin Avenue, in front of the 3rd St. Market Hall between North 2nd Street and North Phillips Avenue.

Weather outlook for Milwaukee, Wisconsin

The forecast for the Milwaukee area calls for calm conditions on Aug. 14 and 15, with temps heating up a little and humidity increasing a bit Friday, according to Miller.

Getting into Aug. 16, thunderstorm chances increase statewide, he said. They’re forecast to work in from the north through the day, with the potential to reach the Milwaukee area Saturday evening. Though, the best chances for the storms look to be over east central Wisconsin, from Green Bay to Fond du Lac and Sheboygan counties.

A band of wildfire smoke will try to work its way into northern Wisconsin Aug. 13. For the Milwaukee area, that means a little smoke could get trapped along the lakeshore the morning of Aug. 14, making it “a little smokey” around here.

As of Aug. 12, this Milwaukee summer has included 24 days of poor air quality from the wildfire smoke, 38 days of extreme heat and a 1,000-year flood.
