Mike Singletary shares thoughts on Bears stadium saga

The never-ending stadium controversy surrounding the Chicago Bears has pulled out plenty of reaction and opinion across the NFL world, including former players of the franchise.

Recently, Brian Urlacher took aim at the politicians involved in the saga that has the team focused on a potential move out of the state of Illinois and finding their new future home in Hammond, Indiana. This week, another Hall of Fame linebacker, Mike Singletary, spoke out on the biggest offseason news for the Bears this year.

During an appearance on the “Up and Adams Show,” Singletary was asked about the stadium issue and started off by saying that no matter where the team calls home in the near future, they’re always going to be the Bears. the location will not change that.

“I gotta be honest with you, I’ve heard it all, at the end of the day, wherever they go whether it’s Chicago, the suburbs, Indiana, as long as they win, they’re always going to be the Bears,” Singletary said. “I think Papa Halas would say just win. Wherever you are, win. It comes down to, you can stay in Chicago, but if you can’t compete on the financial side of things, you can’t continue to bring on players and coaches that are going to make a difference. Then I think you’re going to see the stands a little less full. If you’re a winning organization, that’s what Papa Bear Halas had in mind when he was thinking about the Chicago Bears.”

Singletary’s message is simple, winning could resolve a lot of the issues around the optics of the Bears and their strong ties to the fanbase. They have to put themselves in a situation where they can financially compete with other top teams in the league, and if that means their stadium is across state lines, the Bears legend believes winning will take care of it all.
