Cowboys players have already started their summer break. Now they also know when it’ll be time to go back to work.
The NFL has announced the start dates for all 32 teams’ training camps. Cowboys rookies and veterans alike will report on July 28.
As has been the case every year since 2019- with the exception of the COVID season of 2020 when it was canceled outright- the Cowboys will hold camp in Oxnard, Calif., about 60 miles outside Los Angeles.
The Cowboys first visited Oxnard in 2001 and have held camp there most years since (with a few stray visits to San Antonio sprinkled throughout that span). This summer will mark their 20th in Oxnard overall.
The exact itinerary of this year’s West Coast stay has yet to be made public, but details have been firmed up regarding the summer’s two joint practices. The Cowboys will head to L.A. on Aug. 11 to hold a work session with the Rams; that meeting will come in advance of the two teams meeting again at SoFi Stadium during Week 15 of the regular season.
The Saints will then visit Oxnard to practice with the Cowboys on Aug. 18. That joint workout will mark the return of New Orleans head coach Kellen Moore back to Oxnard, a familiar location to him dating back to his time with the Cowboys as both a coach and player.
The Cowboys are expected to announce details of their entire Oxnard stay, including a list of which practices will be open to the public, later in the week.
