Two killed in head-on crash

A man and woman were killed in a two-vehicle crash involving a semi-trailer rig on Friday in Eastland County, the Texas Department of Public Safety said in a media release.

On State Highway 6 at FM Road 1853, a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan sport SUV and a 2000 Freightliner truck-tractor towing 2015 Dirt semi-trailer were involved in a wreck, the DPS said.

The DPS preliminary investigation determined the SUV driven by Douglas Hartley, 56, of from Granbury was going north on State Highway 6 near FM 1853, the state agency said. Campbell, 44, of Granbury was a passenger in the SUV.

The truck-tractor rig driven by Yancarlos Vazquez, 37, of Red Rock was going south and approaching from the opposite direction, the DPS said.

The SUV crossed the center dividing line and hit the tractor-trailer rig head-on, the DPS said. Autumn Campbell, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the SUV.

Hartley and Campbell were pronounced dead at the scene at 3:41 p.m. Friday by Eastland County Justice of the Peace Jesse Spear, the DPS said. Hartley was wearing a seatbelt.

Vazquez was transported to Eastland Memorial Hospital for minor injury treatment, the DPS said. He was wearing a seatbelt.
