Much like in years past, the Houston Texans will take on two teams in practice with the important factors over preseason games ahead of the 2026 NFL season.
The Texans will play host to the Las Vegas Raiders before hitting the road to take on the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium in the preseason finale. Now, those dates seemed to be locked up.
Houston will host the Raiders on Aug. 18, two days before the franchise plays No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza and new coach Klint Kubiak at Reliant Stadium. The following week, the Texans will leave early for a date with the Panthers out at their practice facility on Aug. 26.
Here’s a look at every scheduled joint practice for the upcoming training camp period, including their dates and locations.
Eleven NFL teams will have at least two joint practices before the start of the regular season, while the Jacksonville Jaguars, New Orleans Saints and Tennessee Titans will have at least three. Thirteen teams will have one joint practice while four franchises will have none.
The Texans are poised to be a contender in the AFC under fourth-year coach DeMeco Ryans. The No. 1-ranked defense returns nine starters from a season ago while perhaps upgrading its safety position with the arrival of Reed Blankenship. Meanwhile, the offensive line had a makeover, bringing in five new names, including first-round pick Keylan Rutledge.
Everything falls on the shoulders of quarterback C.J. Stroud and offensive coordinator Nick Caley as they enter Year 2 of their partnership. Should the duo embrace their roles, Houston should be the team to beat in the conference, but all that is up for interpretation until Week 1’s showdown against the Buffalo Bills at Reliant.
