One would think the Cincinnati Bengals comfortably have the best quarterback room in the NFL.
Joe Burrow is a top-five player at the most important position in sports. Right behind him, Joe Flacco is a former Super Bowl MVP who is one of the best backups across the entire NFL.
One quarterback room, though, apparently tops what the Bengals have on their depth chart.
According to Jordan Dajani of CBS Sports, the San Francisco 49ers’ four-man chart of Brock Purdy, Mac Jones, Adrian Martinez and Kurtis Rourke is better than what the Bengals have.
Adding to that, the writeup hits the Bengals for wasting Burrow’s time.
“This franchise needs to stop wasting the prime years of its elite weapons,” Dajani wrote. “Burrow is actually the only quarterback in NFL history to register a 100+ passer rating while making zero playoff starts in a three-season span. He’s also been the most-sacked quarterback (242) since entering the league in 2020, if we include sacks taken in the playoffs.”
To the Bengals’ credit, they would seem to agree, based on how they went all-in this offseason.
As for the comparison to the 49ers, maybe it’s just preference. Burrow is Burrow. And it’s hard to think Josh Johnson and Sean Clifford are dragging the Bengals down too much in quarterback room rankings.
Regardless, the Bengals historically draft quarterbacks very well and have one of the best one-two lineups on a depth chart possible in 2026 with Burrow and Flacco.
