Section V football: Scores, updates, highlights from Week 1

Friday night lights are back.

The 2025 Section V high school football season kicks off this week, with dozens of games across the Rochester region.

Final score: Batavia 41, Honeoye Falls-Lima 21

Maggio Buchholz ran for 102 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries and Will Stevens completed 4 of 5 passes for 80 yards and a touchdown for Batavia.

Final score: Irondequoit 59, Wilson/Early College 0

Josh Barr caught three touchdowns from quarterback Eric Torres and added a rushing touchdown as Irondequoit rolled in its opener.

Final score: Webster Schroeder 34, Hilton 14

Webster Schroeder opens with a win and Hilton loses its first game in Class A1 after dropping down from AA last year.

Final score: Brockport 28, Churchville-Chili 7

Wesley Childs ran for a touchdown and Tyler Davis returned a fumble return for a touchdown for the final two Brockport scores.

Final score: Pittsford 27, Victor 17

Final score: Eastridge 7, East 6

Defending Section V Class B champion Eastridge started the season with a victory. The Lancers were moved up to Class A2 this season.

Final score: East Rochester/Gananda 21, Oakfield-Alabama/Elba 13

Final score: Fairport 42, Ithaca 0

Final score: Geneva 56, Edison 6

Gianni Trunzo-Velazquez rushed for 116 yards on 11 carries and Khamari Eldridge ran for two touchdowns for Geneva. Jahzire White had two touchdowns receptions for the Panthers.

Final score: Lyons/Sodus 34, Wayne 8

East cuts into deficit against Eastridge

East’s Taye Brown tiptoed the right sideline for a touchdown and the Eagles trail 7-6 late in the third quarter.

Halftime score: Brockport 14, Churchville-Chili 0

Ryan Miller scored on a 10-yard run to add to Brockport’s lead.

Halftime score: East Rochester/Gananda 14, Oakfield-Alabama/Elba 7

End first quarter score: Brockport 7, Churchville-Chili 0

Tyler Reger scores second touchdown of game for Hilton

Junior Tyler Reger has both Hilton touchdowns. He followed up his kickoff return for a TD with a 2-yard touchdown run to tie the game at 14 for Hilton against Webster Schroeder.

East makes acrobatic interception

East’s Charles Davis deflected a pass to himself and made an interception deep in Eastridge territory.

Eastridge takes early lead on East

Eastridge’s Peyton Kispert barreled through defenders at the line of scrimmage for a 4-yard touchdown run for Eastridge, which leads East 7-0.

Hilton responds with kickoff return for touchdown

Hilton scored before its offense took the field. Tyler Reger returned a kickoff for a touchdown to tie the game at 7 for Hilton against Webster Schroeder.

Gates Chili goes up 28-7

Jo’Vani Williams’ touchdown run put Gates Chili ahead 28-7 against Greece Arcadia.

Kalin Watkins scores for Webster Schroeder

Quarterback Kalin Watkins ran in a touchdown to give Webster Schroeder a 7-0 lead over Hilton.

Kentrell Holt puts Gates Chili up two scores

Kentrell Holt scored on a short touchdown run in the first quarter to put Gates Chili up 14-0 against Greece Arcadia.

Gates Chili gets on board first against Greece Arcadia

Nathan McKinney threw a screen pass to Bradyen Sinclair, who broke a tackle and ran up the left sideline for a touchdown to give Gates Chili a 7-0 lead with 7:32 left in the first quarter.
