New York Giants agree to a contract extension with GM Joe Schoen

After initial thoughts that he’d be dismissed with Brian Daboll, the New York Giants are signing general manager Joe Schoen to a multi-year extension after a strong offseason, rewarding the front office’s draft work and roster-building efforts.

Daboll became the second NFL coach fired last season, following the Tennessee Titans’ decision to move on from head coach Brian Callahan. Daboll, in his fourth year with the Giants, had a 2-8 record before his dismissal, and the team set a staggering franchise record with 11 straight road losses. That came a year after the Giants set a franchise record with a 10-game losing streak in 2024.

Daboll finished his tenure with the Giants 20-40-1 in three-plus seasons.

Schoen survived, had a successful NFL free agency and draft process, and appears in sync with the new head coach, John Harbaugh.

Schoen has been the Giants’ general manager since 2022, and New York is 22-45-1 during that timespan with one playoff appearance in 2022, his and Daboll’s first season with the franchise.
