Ames girls track and field athlete Angelica Attinger and Nevada boys track and field athletes Connor Kunze were voted the Ames Tribune female and male Athlete of the Week winners for the week of May 11-17.
Attinger was named female Athlete of the Week with 65% of the vote.
Attinger broke the Ames girls track and field record in the girls 400-meter hurdles previously held by current Iowa Hawkeye Ali Frandsen during the IAC conference meet on May 6 at Ottumwa.
Attinger’s record time of 1:00.69 gave her the conference title by 7.72 seconds.
Kunze was named male Athlete of the Week with 59% of the vote.
Kunze won the boys 100 and 200 sprinting events, and he anchored Nevada to a win in the 4×100 relay at the HOIC track and field meet on May 8 at State Center.
Kunze finished the 100 in 10.83 and the 200 in 21.69. He helped the Cub boys 4×100 team run a time of 43.46.
