North Polk girls soccer player Addison Ollendike and Des Moines Roosevelt boys soccer player Caden Lane were voted the Des Moines Register’s metro-area female and male Athlete of the Week winners for the week of May 11-17.
Ollendike won female Athlete of the Week with 71% of the vote.
Ollendike picked up a hat-trick for the 2A No. 3 North Polk girls soccer team during an 8-0 victory at Ballard on May 5 at Huxley.
Ollendike put three goals on the board for the Comets. That put her at 21 goals on the season.
Lane won a close vote for male Athlete of the Week with 39% of the vote.
Lane had a strong game at keeper for the Des Moines Roosevelt boys soccer team during a 5-0 victory over Mason City on May 6 at Mason City.
Lane made five saves to help the Class 4A No. 2 Roughriders earn their fourth shutout victory of the season and improve to 10-1-1 overall.
