A crew painted over the star-shaped logo of Hardee’s in Washington on Tuesday. All identifying signage was removed, and the message board seen along the street announced the storefront is “closed.”
It is one of multiple Hardee’s locations to permanently close in the Peoria area.
Stores at 3505 NE Adams St. and 3909 W. War Memorial Drive in Peoria have also shuttered, with signs encouraging patrons to “PLEASE VISIT ONE OF OUR OTHER LOCATIONS.”
The Journal Star reached out to Capstone Restaurant Group – which includes a “collection of affiliated companies that operates and franchises over 100 Hardee’s restaurants in 8 states” – about the closures but has not yet received a statement.
A sign posted to the door of the 1102 Peoria St. storefront in Washington said the staff “loved serving the Washington community all these years.” It encouraged patrons to check the Hardee’s website for other area storefronts.
Ultimately, the sign concluded: “Thank you for your support, We will miss you.”
