Brooks Koepka will not be playing in Detroit after all.
The PGA Tour announced on Tuesday, July 28, the five-time major champion has withdrawn from the Rocket Classic after committing to the tournament on July 13.
Ben Silverman will take his place in the 147-player field that is now finalized (see full field and tee times below).
Koepka has had a unique schedule this year for a player as accomplished as himself. He had to earn his status back on the PGA Tour after leaving for the start-up rival LIV Golf from 2022-25.
Part of that has included stops at tournaments he has not typically played in to try and earn FedEx Cup points, such as playing the Rocket Classic in Detroit, where he had never played before.
However, it ultimately didn’t work out, as Koepka withdrew during the week of the tournament. There was not a reason given for his withdrawal.
Koepka has been dealing with a nerve issue that has affected his left hand; he withdrew from the final round of the RBC Canadian Open in June. He then had missed cuts at the U.S. Open and Scottish Open, but finished T-28 at The Open at Royal Birkdale just over a week ago.
Koepka, entering the second-to-last regular-season event of the season, is 84th in the FedEx Cup standings. The top 70 make the start of the playoffs at the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis.
Rocket Classic replacement tournament
It was a busy news day for the Rocket Classic, as the PGA Tour also announced which tournament will take its place on the schedule after it ends for good this year.
Sompo, a Japanese insurance company, has agreed to a multi-year deal to replace Rocket Mortgage as a tournament sponsor.
The Sompo-sponsored tournament will be played at Silverado Resort in Napa, California in 2027 and then will continue as part of the new Championship Series in 2028 at a new market to be determined in the future.
Rocket Classic tee times 2026
The PGA Tour also announced on Tuesday the tee times for the first two rounds of the final final Rocket Classic.
Brendon Todd, Lanto Griffin and Eric Cole will kick things off at 7 a.m. Thursday morning on the front nine, while Nick Dunlap, Joel Dahmen and Max McGreevy start on the back nine at the same time.
