The Peoria Chiefs received some new talent from the parent club St. Louis Cardinals on Aug. 6, including two players from the 2026 MLB Draft.
The Cardinals sent outfielder Andrew Williamson to Peoria. He was a second-round, competitive balance-B pick, 68th overall, from Central Florida. The Van Nuys, California native has a big arm and projects as a power-hitting right fielder.
Also sent to the Chiefs is outfielder-first baseman Caden Ferraro, the third-round pick (86th overall) by the Cardinals.
The Pearland, Texas native is a terrific hitter, and delivered a .374 batting average and 1.085 OPS in college ball this season at Texas Tech.
The Cardinals also sent undrafted free agent and former California Golden Bears catcher Alex Birge to Peoria, promoting him from low-A Palm Beach.
The Chiefs are fifth in the second-half race in the West Division of the high-A Midwest League. They continued a 12-game homestand against Quad Cities and Beloit with the third game of a series against Quad Cities on Aug. 6.
