Kalif Raymond reacts to Bears' response in 2-minute drill

With all of the talent on the Chicago Bears offense, wide receiver Kalif Raymond tends to fly under the radar. The veteran receiver, who previously played under head coach Ben Johnson with the Detroit Lions, signed a one-year deal this offseason with the Bears.

Raymond has never been a top receiver, but he has bounced around the league since 2016 because he can be a valuable depth piece at receiver and a weapon as a punt returner. During Thursday’s training camp practice, the two-time second-team All-Pro was part of Chicago’s two-minute drill, where quarterback Caleb Williams led the 65-yard scoring drive that was ultimately capped off with a touchdown by wide receiver Luther Burden III.

It was a welcomed sight to see the Bears offense find success in the two-minute situation. The offense struggled throughout the day and in the previous padded practice, making Thursday’s performance a nice rebound for everyone on offense. Raymond was also excited about the successful two-minute drill in practice.

“It don’t matter if the defense knows what we’ve got, as long as we know what we’ve got, everything will work,” Raymond said. “Also with the time left, we can run it a little bit, too.  So got a chance for that, kind of implement some run game, and then some guys get physical because they’re running the ball.  I think we threw a bubble at one point and [wide receiver] Rome [Odunze] was blocking his butt off, so you’ve just got guys just doing a lot of stuff.”

The two-minute situation has been a point of emphasis for Johnson throughout training camp so far. Chicago will be looking to have many more practices end with a touchdown in the two-minute drill throughout the rest of training camp.
