Trey Beard has officially joined the Miami Marlins.
The former FSU pitcher has signed with the organization after they took him with the 147th overall pick in the 2026 MLB Draft. According to Carlos Collazo of Baseball America, the deal is worth $496,400, which is a $2,500 underslot deal.
Beard, an FAU transfer, served as FSU’s No. 2 starter in his only season with the Seminoles. The lefty went 6-1 with a 3.59 ERA in 77 2/3 innings. He held opponents to a .218 batting average, allowing 38 runs on 62 hits and 26 walks, striking out 123 batters.
He had arguably his best performance of the season in his final outing of the season. After a rain delay knocked Wes Mendes out of FSU’s do-or-die game against Coastal Carolina in the Tallahassee Regional, Beard did not allow a run over the final four innings, with FSU winning 2-1. He struckout nine batters and allowed just one hit.
Beard is the fourth Seminole to sign after being drafted. First baseman Myles Bailey signed an overslot deal with the Chicago Cubs, Bryson Moore has signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and Brodie Purcell has signed with the Cincinnati Reds.
