Holland & Knight announces business development director

Holland & Knight recently added Lauren Smyers as director of business development for the firm’s HK Deal Flow program. Based in West Palm Beach, Smyers has more than a decade of private equity experience focused on sourcing investment opportunities, advancing strategic growth and building trusted relationships. Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Smyers led business development at Validor Capital and Weatherford Capital, where she was responsible for cultivating high-impact relationships across the private equity ecosystem. Founded in 1889, Holland & Knight is a global law firm with approximately 2,200 lawyers and other professionals in 35 offices worldwide.

Osborne & Osborne becomes Osborne, Osborne & Fanzlaw

The law firm of Osborne & Osborne, P.A. recently announced that effective March 1, the firm will now be known as Osborne, Osborne & Fanzlaw, P.A. The firm was established in Boca Raton in 1971 by the honorable Ray C. Osborne after his tenure as Lt. Governor of Florida. Amy J. Fanzlaw, a partner with the firm, is one of only nine attorneys board certified by The Florida Bar in both Wills, Trusts and Estates and Elder Law. Throughout her career, Fanzlaw has devoted substantial hours to The Florida Bar. She currently serves as vice chair of the board of Legal Specialization and Education and chair-elect of the Elder Law Section.

FAU foundation welcomes addition to board

The Florida Atlantic University Foundation recently welcomed Allison Taylor to its board of directors. Her nomination was approved by the FAU board of trustees for a three-year term. She has built a career in finance and accounting with more than 20 years of experience as a public accountant. Taylor has served as a director, executive committee member and chair of the finance committee for United Way of Palm Beach County, and as a director and chair of the audit committee for Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Palm Beach County. The FAU Foundation Board is comprised of dedicated alumni and friends of the university who volunteer their time and expertise to oversee fundraising efforts and manage the foundation’s nearly $500 million in assets.

Palm Beach Symphony adds three board members

Carol Baxter, Mary Demory and Percy Kavasmaneck, Ph.D. have joined Palm Beach Symphony’s board of directors. Baxter is a Palm Beach resident and longtime supporter of the symphony and was a maestro grand benefactor sponsor of the Symphony’s Ninth Annual Holly Jolly Symphony Fête in December. Growing up in a home full of music, Baxter has a profound passion for piano and singing. Demory chaired the Symphony’s Ninth Annual Holly Jolly Symphony Fête last year and will return as honorary chair for the 10th anniversary holiday extravaganza on Dec. 7. She served for 10 years as the assistant inspector general of the U. S. Department of Justice. Kavasmaneck is a chemical engineer and has been an active member of the Palm Beach County community since the early 2000s. Founded in 1974, Palm Beach Symphony is South Florida’s premier orchestra known for its diverse repertoire and commitment to community.

Palms West Hospital names CEO

HCA Florida Palms West Hospital recently announced the appointment of Cory Mead as its new chief executive officer, effective March 30. Mead brings more than a decade of leadership experience within HCA Healthcare and a strong record of driving operational excellence and strategic growth. He most recently served as chief executive officer of HCA Florida Woodmont Hospital in Tamarac. Mead earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and a master’s degree in health administration from the University of Iowa. As Palms West Hospital celebrates 40 years of caring for the community, the organization continues to invest in its future. Last June, the hospital broke ground on a new 42-bed patient tower, a major expansion that will transform the campus and help meet the growing healthcare needs of the western communities of Palm Beach County.

HomeSafe announces new board appointments

HomeSafe recently announced the appointment of Ken Rosenberg to its board of directors, alongside the return of longtime leader Ward Kellogg, a founding chairman of Paradise Bank who previously served two decades on the board. Rosenberg and his wife Maggie are longtime supporters of HomeSafe and the Boca Raton community. Rosenberg and Kellogg, both Boca Raton residents, bring decades of leadership, philanthropy and deep-rooted ties to the community. HomeSafe is a nationally accredited nonprofit protecting Palm Beach County’s and South Florida’s most vulnerable residents — victims of child abuse and domestic violence.
