Cristian Mihut resigns as South Bend Adams boys soccer head coach

As confirmed by South Bend Adams Athletic Director Colin Burns Monday, April 20, Cristian Mihut has resigned from his position as the Eagles’ head boys soccer coach. The seven-year head coach is taking a teaching position at Culver Academies.

In what turned out to be Mihut’s final season leading the Eagles, they went 16-3-2 en route to winning an IHSAA 3A regional championship for the first time since 1999. Mihut led Adams to four sectional championships and was named the 2024 and 2025 Northern Indiana Conference (NIC) Coach of the Year.

In the Eagles’ successful 2025 season, they first captured a sectional title by beating Mishawaka Marian 1-0, then they advanced to the regional championship with a 1-0 victory vs. Concord in double overtime. Adams captured a regional crown by beating Lake Central in a shootout with the game-clinching goal coming from senior goalkeeper Eric Garcilazo.

Its season ended with a 1-0 loss to West Lafayette Harrison, which had won the 2024 state championship before losing in the state finals this time around to Carmel.

Mihut’s combined record as the Eagles’ head coach was 66-33-6.

“[Mihut is a] big loss for us. [He] laid a great foundation, [and] was a great guy, too,” Burns wrote via text message. “We are confident we will be able to attract a great replacement.”
