When police arrived a man was seen repeatedly entering and exiting the house with a rifle, and back up from the Hendricks County Joint Tactical Team, Danville Police Department, Avon Police Department, Brownsburg Police Department and Plainfield Police Department were called.

The man ignored officers’ demands to drop the rifle, the ISP news release stated, and at one point aimed his rifle at police. Police then fired their firearms, striking the man. According to the release, police rendered medical aid, but the man was later pronounced dead at the scene.

After searching the property, police located a woman south of the residence in a grassy area. The woman was also pronounced dead at the scene.

No police officers were injured.

ISP is now investigating after a request from the agencies involved. After the investigation, all findings will be sent to the Hendricks County Prosecutor’s Office.

The names of both people and the officers who fired shots have not yet been released.
