During Pena’s 2024 season at Syracuse, he played a major role in the offense, totaling 108 targets on the year and nearly hitting the 1,000-yard mark, along with recording nine touchdowns. Last season at Penn State, Pena would catch 49 of 65 targets for 552 yards with two touchdowns. Most of his snaps have come from the slot, but Pena has experience lining up outside as well. Can Trebor Pena make roster push with Jaguars?
During the NFL draft, wide receiver became a fairly crowded room for the Jaguars with the additions of CJ Williams and Josh Cameron, who join Brian Thomas Jr., Jakobi Meyers, Parker Washington, and Travis Hunter. That’s already six potential roster spots accounted for.
Perhaps the Jaguars go heavy here with Travis Hunter playing both ways and keep a seventh wideout, which would then open up a potential roster spot. Beyond the receiving aspect of playing the position, the ability to help in the run game and contribute on special teams can be differentiators for those back-end of the roster players. Pena will be competing against more experienced players, like Austin Trammell, for that potential roster spot.
