Jaguars, Brenton Strange agree to contract extension, here are details

The Jacksonville Jaguars have once again locked up one of their own, agreeing to terms with tight end Brenton Strange on a new three-year contract extension, a source confirmed to the Times-Union.

The deal will keep Strange in Jacksonville through the 2029 season. Strange was entering the final year of his original four-year rookie deal after being drafted by the team in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

According to multiple reports, Strange’s extension is worth up to $48 million over three years with $25 million guaranteed.

Strange’s extension comes just a day after the Atlanta Falcons agreed to an extension with TE Kyle Pitts, giving the former Florida Gators playmaker $54 million over three years with $36 million fully guaranteed.

Strange’s value skyrocketed last year after his breakout season under head coach Liam Coen and offensive coordinator Grant Udinski. Last season, Strange caught 46 passes for 540 yards and three touchdowns in 12 games. Strange missed five games last season due to a major soft tissue injury. The team went 2-3 during the five-game span.

Additionally, the Jaguars have insisted this offseason that the team will turn toward more tight end usage as the trend continues to rise around the NFL.

With their first selection in the 2026 NFL Draft, the Jaguars picked TE Nate Boerkircher out of Texas A&M in the second round. The team also selected TE Tanner Koziol, to double up on the position, taking him in the fifth round of this year’s draft.
