Alexa Guarachi is back to competing on tennis’ biggest stage.
The current Director of Racquet Sports at Watersound Club and Miramar Beach native has earned a spot alongside partner Alicja Rosolska in next month’s U.S. Open.
It’ll be Guarachi’s first Grand Slam appearance since 2023, the Emerald Coast local using that off time to expand her family with the addition of a baby boy while settling into her role at Watersound. Before then, Guarachi was a staple at majors and rose to as high as No. 11 in the world.
The former state champ at South Walton and All-American at Alabama finished runner-up at Roland Garros in 2020 and made the semifinals at the 2021 U.S. Open with teammate Desirae Krawczyk, who partnered with Guarachi for four of her five career WTA wins. In 2019, Guarachi and Erin Routliffe advanced to the quarterfinals at Wimbledon.
She’s 22-21 in her 21 Grand Slam appearances, including an 8-6 record at the U.S. Open. where she’s advanced to at least the third round three times.
The draws will be released later this month, with the first-round matches scheduled for July 2–3 and set to be broadcast on ESPN and ESPN+.
