The trade deadline in Major League Baseball is on Monday, Aug. 3, but the Cleveland Guardians are already making moves.
The team announced on Saturday, Aug. 1 that it was trading catcher Bo Naylor and relief pitcher Codi Heuer to the Milwaukee Brewers. In return, the Guardians will receive relief pitcher Craig Yoho and outfielder Blake Perkins.
Naylor, 26, became expendable when the Guardians traded for Patrick Bailey earlier in May. After that move was made, Naylor was sent back to the minors after struggling in his first 28 games for Cleveland, batting .143.

The 26-year-old Yoho, who throws right handed, has split time this season between the majors and Triple-A. He’s appeared in 15 games for Milwaukee this season, striking out 18 in 20 innings. He has an ERA of 3.15 and a 2-0 record.
Milwaukee took him in the eighth round of the 2023 MLB Draft. He was named Milwaukee’s minor-league pitcher of the year in 2024.
