Scotland vs Brazil LIVE: World Cup lineups, start time and how to watch

The World Cup continues with its third group play match in South Florida and Hard Rock Stadium, home of the NFL’s Miami Dolphins, as two of Group C’s biggest names square off with spots in the knockout rounds on the line.

This matchup features two of the most passionate fan bases in the world as Scotland takes on Brazil in Group C, with both teams locked in on reaching the Round of 32. Brazil currently sits top of the group with four points, and Scotland is in third place with three points.

The eight best third-place teams advance to the knockout rounds, so Scotland could advance even with a draw to Brazil on Wednesday, but if Haiti were to upset Morocco, it could put a spanner in Scotland’s plans. For Brazil, a win guarantees a first or second-place finish in the group, depending on the result of the Morocco vs. Haiti game, which will be played simultaneously with a 6 p.m. kickoff in Atlanta.

The Palm Beach Post will be in Miami to provide coverage of the match. Follow live updates from Scotland vs. Brazil below!

The final game of Group C for Scotland and Brazil is underway, as the Scottish kick the action off!

Matheus Cunha leads the line for Brazil. Can he replicate his magical performance vs. Haiti?

Matheus Cunha remains the starting striker for Brazil after his two-goal performance against Haiti. The Manchester United forward is not a typical out-and-out No. 9, but his crafty playstyle and ability to drop deep to receive and carry the ball make him a good fit for the Brazil XI.

He and Vinicius Jr. combined well in the win over Haiti. Can they replicate it against Scotland? We will find out in about 15 minutes.

Scotland vs. Brazil weather update: Could storms spoil the party?

Light rain is falling at Hard Rock… whoops, Miami Stadium.

While the rain is falling, heavier storms and rainfall are expected to avoid the stadium, according to AccuWeather forecasts. Kickoff shouldn’t be impacted, but South Florida weather in June is as unpredictable as it gets.

Will Neymar play and make his debut vs Scotland at the 2026 World Cup?

Neymar has yet to play for Brazil in the 2026 World Cup, missing the first two games while nursing a calf injury. However, Brazilian head coach Carlo Ancelotti said that the merciurial Brazilian is ready to play against Scotland.

A glance at the starting lineup shows Neymar on the bench, so any appearance for the legendary winger would have to come in a cameo, likely in the second half.

Tartan Army gives Dan Marino’s statue a proper Scottish welcome

The Tartan Army has arrived at Hard Rock Stadium, and they’ve decartoted the statue of one of Miami’s most famous athletes in the only way they know how.

With a traffic cone!

Dan Marino sports a new type of helmet thanks to the Scottish fans.

How can Scotland qualify for the Round of 32?

The most important thing for Scotland against Brazil is to avoid defeat. A loss ends the tournament for Scotland, and while a draw doesn’t guarantee a spot in the Round of 32, it keeps them in play to be one of the eight best third-place teams, all of which advance.

The simplest path forward for Scotland is to win. Easier said than done against Brazil, of course. But crazier things have happened, and speaking of crazy, Scotland could even win the group with a victory over Brazil and a loss or draw for Morocco against Haiti.

How can Brazil win Group C?

The Brazilians enter the showdown with Scotland with a chance to lock up the top spot in Group C. Currently tied with Morocco on four points, if both sides were to win their final games of group play, the group winner will be decided on goal difference. While FIFA has adopted a head-to-head model to determine group stage standings, since the two sides tied 1-1, the next tiebreaker is goal difference.

Brazil leads that category with a +3 mark, with Morocco only holding a +1 in the goal difference category. It’s an advantage for the Brazilians, and leaves a lot of work to be done for Morocco.

For example, if Brazil were to beat Scotland 1-0, Morocco would have to beat Haiti 4-0 to top the group.

Scotland’s Tartan Army takes over South Florida ahead of Brazil game

The story so far for Scotland has been off the pitch as the Tartan Army, the Scottish team’s fans, have been perhaps the most boisterous, both in Boston and in Miami. Kilts, bagpipes, traffic cones, and beer, lots of beer, have made the Scottish fans the darlings of the World Cup. So much so, the Miami Marlins, who opened their doors with a “Tartan Army ticket package” in a game against the Texas Rangers.

The team on the field will need that support to take on Brazil, which has beaten Scotland in three of the four World Cup matches (the last coming in 1998). The lone draw came in 1974, a 0-0 final result.

What is the weather for Scotland vs. Brazil in Miami?

According to Accuweather, it should be a typical summer day in South Florida. Expect temperatures to get into the low-to-mid 90s, with the chance for a spot thunderstorm in the afternoon and early evening, right when the match begins. On June 22, there was a 2-hour, 15-minute weather delay in Philadelphia during the France-Iraq match.
