MIAMI GARDENS — England’s Ezri Konsa has given the “Three Lions” a multi-goal lead over France in South Florida’s final World Cup match.
Konsa scored a header against France in the 18th minute to give England a 2-0 lead in the World Cup third-place match on Saturday, July 18 at Hard Rock Stadium
English midfielder Declan Rice had the assist on the corner kick. Rice previously shot from outside the box to score England’s first goal of the evening. He intercepted a pass near midfield and drove unimpeded to the French penalty box before unleashing a right-footed shot.
Rice has come under criticism in the English press after the “Three Lions” lost 2-1 to Argentina in the World Cup semifinals on Wednesday, July 15.
Scottish pundit Graeme Souness questioned whether Rice was truly a midfielder or would be better off playing in an entirely defensive role as a center back.
