Could Charlie Woods play golf at Florida State? What we know about recruiting Tiger's son

One major question looms over Charlie Woods in the wake of his second Florida high school golf state championship: Where will Tiger Woods’ son play college golf?

Woods, son of the legendary 15-time major champion, remains uncommitted regarding his collegiate golf future, an anomaly among the United States’ best junior golfers.

He is the only uncommitted player currently in the Top 10 of the American Junior Golf Association rankings, though that’s not due to a lack of interest or credentials.

Woods is ranked No. 9 in the latest AJGA rankings and has enjoyed a breakout 2025, including his first AJGA tournament win, a tied for ninth finish at the Boys’ Junior PGA and a Florida high school golf state championship.

Benjamin head coach Toby Harbeck said Woods has been mostly quiet about his collegiate future despite plenty of interest.

“Charlie’s very mum-mum about where he’s looking and what he’s thinking,” Harbeck said. “There’s a lot of people that want him. It’s just where he feels most comfortable. He’s visited a couple schools. We’ll see. We’ll see.”

Is Florida State recruiting Charlie Woods?

One clue about interested schools was revealed last weekend in Howey-in-the-Hills at the Florida Class 1A State Championship.

Florida State men’s golf head coach Trey Jones was at Mission Resort + Club’s El Campeon course on Nov. 15. He was seen talking to the elder Woods while watching Charlie shoot a team-best 68 in the final round.

The Seminoles are a program of stature in collegiate men’s golf. Florida State finished as national runner-up in 2024, recently landed a commitment from Miles Russell, the No. 1 golfer in the latest AJGA rankings, and is No. 11 in Golfweek’s 2025-26 preseason poll.

Securing Woods’ commitment would be a blockbuster move for Florida State. He would join Russell in a loaded Class of 2027 recruiting class while countering the rival Florida Gators’ stellar 2027 class, which features AJGA Top 10 players Giuseppe Puebla (Royal Palm Beach) and Jessy Huebner (Port St. Lucie).

Of course, the Woods also have a long history with Stanford University, where Tiger was an All-American player from 1994-96 and Charlie’s older sister Sam currently studies.
