FSU star lands among nation's top draft prospects at his position

Duce Robinson elected to return to Florida State for one more season with the goal of improving his NFL Draft stock, and one of the industry’s most respected evaluators believes the Seminoles star is already among the nation’s elite at his position.

In his preseason positional rankings for the 2027 NFL Draft, The Athletic’s Dane Brugler ranked Robinson as the No. 5 senior wide receiver in the country entering the 2026 college football season. Brugler’s annual summer rankings are widely regarded as one of the earliest and most comprehensive evaluations of the upcoming draft class, offering an initial snapshot of the players NFL scouts will be watching throughout the fall.

Robinson enters the season with plenty of momentum after making an immediate impact in his first year at Florida State. After transferring from USC ahead of the 2025 campaign, the 6-foot-6 playmaker quickly became quarterback Tommy Castellanos’ favorite target, earning first-team All-ACC honors and emerging as one of the conference’s premier big-play threats.

Robinson finished the year with 56 receptions for 1,081 yards and six touchdowns, becoming Florida State’s first 1,000-yard receiver since 2019 while averaging 19.3 yards per catch. He also ranked ninth nationally in receiving yards and led the ACC in multiple explosive-play categories.

The recognition is the latest in what has been an eventful offseason for Robinson. After announcing in January that he would bypass the 2026 NFL Draft and return to Tallahassee for his senior season, the Phoenix native has collected preseason All-America recognition, was selected as one of Florida State’s representatives at ACC Kickoff and continues to appear near the top of virtually every early draft board.

With another productive campaign, Robinson has a chance to cement himself as one of the premier pass catchers in college football and strengthen his case to become one of the first wide receivers selected in the 2027 NFL Draft. For now, Brugler’s preseason evaluation reinforces what many around the sport already believe: Florida State’s top offensive weapon is among the nation’s best at his position heading into the fall.
